Caló Des Mort beach is in the eastern most part of Migjorn beach and one the most loved beaches of Formentera. It’s a tiny beach just 20 meters long by 5 meters wide, located a few meters below the sandstone cliffs typical of this area of Migjorn.

This spectacular cove is very small and somewhat hidden, but that does not discourage people from visiting it. The reddish rocks and the sea, rich in shades ranging from deep blue to turquoise, make this stretch of coastline a true gem of nature. The view already feels like a gift for the eyes and the soul.

Caló Des Mort is rumoured to have once been a haven for pirates and their treasures and this legend adds more magic to this beautiful cove making it a must-visit of Formentera.

Tips for visiting Caló des Mort:

  • Best time to go: early in the morning or later in the afternoon. At these hours the light is beautiful and the beach feels quieter.

  • How to reach it: To reach Caló des Mort, drive to Es Copinar beach and follow the dirt path above Chiringuito Bartolo. Walk south along the elevated coastline for about 10–15 minutes (600 meters), keeping clear of the cliff edge. A short descent down the sandstone cliff brings you to this small, sheltered cove.

  • After-visit idea: End your day with a visit to Chiringuito Bartolo, a few minutes’ walk away from Calo’ des Mort. It sits right on the rocks, almost at the water’s edge. Grab a cocktail, feel the breeze, and watch the sea glow with sunset colours while the perfect soundtrack plays in the background.
