Everything you need to know to reach Formentera with ease
There's no airport in Formentera, which means you'll have to fly to Ibiza and take the ferry to Formentera, which is part of the adventure. Here's the simplest step-by-step guide.
Step 1 — Fly to Ibiza (IBZ)
Fly into Ibiza Airport (IBZ). Ibiza is connected with many European cities through direct or connecting flights.
Step 2 — Reach the Port of Ibiza
From the airport, you can get to the port by:
- Taxi — The quickest and most convenient option.
- Bus Line 10 (IbizaBus) — The main bus connecting the airport with Ibiza port (€4.90).
- Rental Car — An option if you’re planning to explore Ibiza first. Please note that rental cars hired in Ibiza cannot be taken to Formentera, so you’ll need to return the car before taking the ferry.
Step 3 — Take the Ferry to Formentera
Ferries run throughout the day from Ibiza to La Savina, Formentera’s port. The main operators include Trasmapi, Baleària and Formentera Lines.
- Fast ferries — Although the crossing is usually advertised as around 30 minutes, in practice it’s best to allow about 40 minutes.
- Car ferries — The journey usually takes around 40–50 minutes.
